Are you about to replace your missing tooth and restore your oral health with a dental implant? If so, our dentist, Dr. Adam Hodges, is happy to give you some details about the treatment! The treatment involved can be confusing and a little overwhelming if you don’t know much about it. So, when you are enhancing your smile, you can expect the following steps:

Step No. 1: If the bone is in top-notch condition, your dentist will place a titanium post in the gum socket of your missing tooth. This will act as the root of the tooth and will hold it firmly in place. The jawbone will need to heal around the post to secure it in place. This should take some time.

Step No. 2: After the bone has healed around the post, your dentist will place an attachment piece over the post. This will hold the restoration in place. Then, your dentist will make impressions of your smile and will send those impressions to a dental lab where your replacement tooth (dental crown) will be made.

Step No. 3: When your replacement tooth is ready, your dentist will secure it over the attachment piece. This will fill the gap in your smile and give you the tooth you have been missing.
